Neuroscience Undergraduate Orientation

Please read this page in its entirety, it has mandatory and pertinent information that will assist you during orientation.

In order to be prepared for your Orientation Advising session,
you will need to do the following:
  1. Complete your Starting at State and other orientation modules before your advising session.
  2. Clear all holds you have before you meet with an advisor or you will be unable to register. The most common holds are Immunizations and the Student Financial Agreement hold. Be sure you have completed all of the steps for Student Health Insurance and Immunizations. If these things are incomplete, you will not be allowed to register for classes.
  3. You must view the neuroscience videos below before you meet with your advisor. These YouTube videos will go through important information and help you craft your first semester schedule before your individual advising session.
  4. Please make a list of any incoming test or dual enrollment/college credit before we meet so your advisor may give you the most accurate schedule for your first semesters.
  5. Familiarize yourself with Schedule Assistant now so you’re able to actually register after your advisor advises you on your schedule.
  6. Take your ALEKS math placement exam ASAP, if applicable. We cannot advise you on math without this score. Without this score you cannot sign up for certain courses.
    • If you have dual enrollment or ANY college credit for MAC 1105 College Algebra or above, you are not required to take the ALEKS exam.
    • If you are anticipating ANY test credit for math, including AP, IB, or AICE, you will still be required to take the ALEKS exam. This is because test scores will not be available prior to the start of the semester and the ALEKS score will serve as a place holder to meet math requirements for science courses.
  7. Please note, family members have their own orientation session to attend and should not come to the advising session. They may watch the videos about the major if they wish.
