Current Research

A major focus of Yi Zhou's research is to develop and characterize animal models for the study of human neuropsychiatric diseases. He and his research team have generated a line of transgenic mice that exhibit behavioral endophenotypes corresponding to the core symptoms of schizophrenia. Using a combination of electrophysiological, biochemical and imaging approaches, they also identified schizophrenia-related synaptic deficits in the brain of our mouse model. Currently, they are using this and other mouse models to investigate the neurobiology of schizophrenia at levels of molecules, synapses and neural circuits.
