Interest
Bhide's research is in the fields of developmental neurobiology and neurobiology of disease. The principal focus is on the role of the neurotransmitter dopamine in brain development. Since dopamine regulates mood, motivation and motor function, Bhide's research program has significant bearing upon multiple brain disorders including attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, early onset torsion dystonia, and neuro-cognitive consequences of pre- and early postnatal drug exposure. Bhide's research has been supported by awards from the US National Institutes of Health, Department of Defense and private foundations.
